What is FIDE ID?
A FIDE ID is a unique identification number assigned to every chess player who is officially registered with the International Chess Federation (FIDE).
It’s like your personal passport in the chess world – it’s used for:

Tracking your official tournament results

Recording your rating (classical, rapid, blitz)

Identifying you in international events

Allowing you to participate in FIDE-rated tournaments
You can get your FIDE ID in one of two ways:
1. Contact Your National Chess Federation:

Find your federation:
Visit the FIDE Member Federations Directory to locate your national chess federation.

Contact the rating officer:
Reach out to the rating officer of your federation, usually via email or phone, and request your FIDE ID.

Provide necessary information:
You’ll likely need to provide details like your name, date of birth, nationality, and passport information.

Follow their instructions:
Your federation will guide you through the specific process for obtaining the ID, including any required forms or fees.

Register and upgrade:If your national federation is unable to assist, you can explore the possibility of getting a FIDE ID through FIDE Arena, a platform associated with FIDE.

Upgrade to PRO:
You’ll likely need to register on the platform and potentially upgrade to a PRO membership to obtain a FIDE ID.
Note that when you register through FIDE Arena, you won’t have a Nationality Mentioned in your Profile and there will be Yearly renewal fees
- One-time registration: The FIDE ID is a one-time registration, and it remains valid for life, Incase of FIDE Arena (there will be yearly Charges around 65Euros)
- Federation’s role: Your national federation is the primary source for obtaining your FIDE ID.
- Official FIDE ID: The ID issued by your national federation is the official FIDE ID.
- FIDE ID for events: FIDE IDs are essential for participating in FIDE-rated chess tournaments.
